Restoration Project

What is the Pilgrim Restoration Project?

The PILGRIM is a sailing trawler, built in Brixham in 1895. She was returned to the port in 1999 through the hard work, drive and initiative of Bill Wakeham.
The aim of the Project is to restore, use, maintain and preserve the vessel as part of Brixham's maritime heritage and to provide access to the Pilgrim's heritage to as wide a range of the public as possible.

Who is involved in the Restoration?

Bill Wakeham, Director, is a professional fisherman of many years experience who has attracted a team of people who share his enthusiasm to restore a vessel you would be proud to be associated with and to enjoy. The team includes people with and without sailing experience, both working and retired, whose varied skills, experience and humour bring life to the project. There is always plenty to do, and plenty of fun in the Pilgrim community and now with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund we are online to our ultimate goal of restoring her to her former glory.
